Constructive Begging

I've had a brand-spankin'-new attitude towards business lately. To be honest, the interview with Channel 11 scared the bejeebers outta me. I don't think I'd be altogether happy working in the "corporate" setting. The entire time I was there during the interviews I felt completely claustrophobic.

Which is not to say I wouldn't take the job. If things don't pick up with my business I'm really faced with choice of "corporate stooge" or "poverty stricken divorced guy living under a bridge."

But things ARE picking up. The great irony in my life right now is that I've actually had plenty of work this month and I'm making what I need to make... but it will take 30 days to see any of it! This is an industry that thrives on cash flow because every job you do has leeway built into it. So the trick is to get ahead.

Not as easy as it sounds!

By the way, if any of you reading this ever come across someone who needs any video work done, photography, graphics, web design, web hosting or any of the other things my company does, don't be shy in sending work my way! I have a crew of people now and we can take on practically anything.

Does this sound like begging? Sure is! A little, anyway.

I have this brand new philosophy on networking. I'm following my lovely wife's advice and being more aggressive. E-mails, phone calls to former clients, shaking down friends for money - these things are not below me.

I think things are really getting better and we'll be able to pull ahead over time. The business is growing - slowly but surely. I'm getting closer to that goal of being a film maker! That's really what all of this is about.
