There's a sort of "rule of thumb" when it comes to being an author. It's almost akin to "dance with the one who brung ya." But it goes deeper than that.
Authors can be typecast, just like actors.
The trouble is, some of us don't want to play the same role forever.
I used to think marketing was a scary word.
Now I realize it's just me talking to people who really want to hear from me. I owe it to my readers, customers, or clients to market my work, so we can find each other.
That's all marketing is. People finding each other.
