In early November I had a dream that led to an idea, which eventually led to me starting a new book. This was something completely outside of either Citadel or Sawyer Jackson—a new, independent story that could stand on its own or become a series in its own right. I titled the story “Evergreen.”

He's something of an eclectic author, dipping into a variety of genres (including Steampunk ... one of my personal faves!). I was privileged to get a chance to ask John a few questions about his work as an indie publisher, and get his insights on the industry.

Lots and lots of pants jokes.Last Sunday, Kara and I went to see “Edge of Tomorrow,” which turned out to be an outstanding flick. And for most of the people I know, I’ll add “even though Tom Cruise was in it.” Though, c’mon … he’s actually a good actor. You’re reacting to his life crazies, right? I get that.

Partly because I wanted to get a few things in order before making an "official" announcement, but more because I can hardly believe it.
Citadel: Children of Light is DONE!
It's long overdue, and it's at the heart of so many sleepless nights for me that I can't even start to tell you. But as of this past weekend all writing and all edits are finished!
Bonus news, I have the new cover galley! In case you didn't notice it when you came in.
So what lies ahead?

I love doing interviews like this (ever seen my "five questions" interviews? I'll dig those out and dust them off soon). The indie author community is already strong and growing stronger, and I feel honored and privileged to be a part of it! But enough about me, let's talk about Violette Meier —

Lots and lots of pants jokes."Citadel: First Colony" is the first book in a series that is driven by character more than setting or circumstance. This series contains a group of characters I have come to love, and I truly believe they could be placed in any setting, from Downton Abbey to Doctor Who to Modern Family, and result in great stories.
And because I think you will love them, too, I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is! Read on to find out how.

If you heard that in the voice of Dr. Farnsworth, then you're my kind of people.
But seriously ... good news! I've officially outlined the first three chapters and most of the fourth chapter of "Children of Light." Not as exciting as saying "I've officially WRITTEN the first three chapters," but we take what victories we can. And that's one.

As promised, I am finally getting a start on this book. Also as promised, I'm re-releasing Books 1 & 2 with spiffy new covers, but even more importantly with spiffy new edits! There were goofs and glitches that bugged me about both books, and some pretty heinous ones at that. Some fairly stupid mistakes were made. And now, hopefully, they are all corrected [...]

Lots and lots of pants jokes.Robbie and I had talked about "the shop" for years. Everyone did. It had stood there, empty, since before I was born. At least, I think it had. Robbie thinks it might have closed down just a few years ago, when we were still in grade school. And he says that he might have seen the inside once when it was still open. He remembers there being lots of people wearing hard hats and goggles, moving big pieces of metal around, sparks flying from welding rigs, and a lot of cursing and music. He remembers seeing a picture of a naked woman tacked to the peg board on someone's workbench, and his dad pulling him away before he could get a really good look.
